What I read / What I’ll read

September is here and that means getting back to it for us Arizonians who hibernate all Summer. I had a great Summer this year. I read a ton and thought I should make some recommendations of my favorites. A big thanks to my friend Cindy at Changing Hands book store.

Here are my recently read recommendations:

The Help by Kathryn Stockett, Evolution, Me and Other Freaks of Nature by Robin Brande, Party by Tom Levin,  The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer, The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell ,
Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson,  Waking Up in the Land of Glitter: A Crafty Chica Novel by Kathy Cano-Murillo, My Life in France by Julia Child and Mockingjay by Susan Collins.

What will I be reading this Fall? I am looking into the following:

The history of love, The Passage, “Unexpectedly, Milo,” by Matthew Dicks, How Did You Get This Number Sloane Crosley, Girl in Translation, Alone with you Marisa Silver, Like Under the Volcano, The Spot by David Means, Thief Maureen Gibbon, The Lonely Polygamist, The Long Song.

Stay tuned.

Mockingjay

It is Mockingjay Release day!!! I drove over to my favorite Indie bookstore this morning Changing Hands to pick up my copy.  If you have not read the Hunger Games and book two Catching Fire get out there and buy the boxed set. My dilemma is now finding the window to read the book in one sitting because the author Suzanne Collins leaves no way out at each chapter end. Damn her!! Check back for my thoughts on  this final installment.

Childrens Book Campy Illustrations

From the ongoing books I love series. We checked this fantastic book out of the library many times this summer. It is all about a boy named Rusty who goes camping with his family called Rusty’s Red Vacation. The illustrations are magically delicious. I also love that the entire book is printed in only two colors, red and black. The graphics are tight and wonky at the same time – I love that! Wonky is my way!
