A Little Bit Of Thanksgiving DIY

Forget the fancy napkins and table-top decorations — there are enough dishes to juggle and fires to avoid this Thanksgiving. Instead, why not why not skip the fancy and go for some DIY table decorations.

Start with something to entertain the guests while they wait for the turkey to come out of the oven — they can read a cheeky and playful placemat. Make sure everyone at the table has a few markers so they can add a little color.

Girls Crafty Weekend

This weekend my girls (well the local one’s) and I got together for a grown up sleepover, crafting weekend. We ate, laughed, ate, drank and crafted. We had butternut squash, pear soup with beet salad and fresh bread. We drank peach champagne with pomegranate seeds. We snacked on maple cookies and black licorice taffy.  We made holiday items to decorate with, stockings for new babies and gifts for friends and families. We had such a great time we all vowed to make it an annual tradition the weekend before Thanksgiving. Sending the kids and husbands on their way we will drink champagne, eat great food and make things with our hands – what could be better? Nothing. Thanks my lady friends!

Plan Your Thanksgiving

Get Organized: First start in the pantry. Arrange all of your canned/dry goods in categories. Put all tomato based products together, canned veggies, soups, beans, etc.

Start The Inventory: Write down exactly what you have and the quantities of everything in your pantry, freezer, and refrigerator

Start Planning: Once you have your inventory go through some recipe ideas. Take notes.

Make A Shopping List: Create a list for the items needed.

Write Out A Calendar: You can schedule when you will prepare menu items or you can just make a list and cross them off as you prepare them.

Start Thanksgiving dinner today – bit by bit and it will be a breeze come Thursday.
