So the reusable lunch bags are complete and ready to use for lunches of all kinds. I wimped out a bit and used the Cyndi get-r-done method of zig-zag stitch turned inside out. This happened because after nearly two hours of trying to make the Serger work, and failing, we went to plan B which quickly moved on and on until we found ourselves at about plan G. My friend Carrie persevered though and her bags are much prettier then mine but with only a couple of weeks before baby arrives I couldn’t have an unfinished project. Carrie’s bags have the unique added feature of binding tape along the edges. They make them look like a yummy commercial product! In fact I think she is about ready to take orders for them. Here are some pics of what we came up with.

Ridding my life of plastic zip lock bags
My friend Carrie and I were very ambitious this past weekend. We set out to make 30 reuseable lined fabric sandwich bags. We cut, pinned and got some of the velcro sewn on but zero completed after an entire day! We will pick up where we left off this coming weekend and sew until our knuckles bleed to get these fabulous pockets done. The kiddos will head off to school this fall fashionable and environmentally conscience. Here are some shots of our work.
Super Lucky
Okay Faythe Levin, my friend, you have permanet life long status as my 4th grade BFF! Today I had a nostalgic trip back to the 80’s, back to elementary school. What a delicious experience opening the box I received in the mail. A couple of months ago I told Faythe I was longing for the plastic charm chain necklaces and charms of my youth and she said she had a whole bag full in her studio that I could have. Well today they arrived. I can not express the pee in your pants glee I got out of wasting my afternoon (when I should be working) sorting, looking, squealing and remembering. I love this collection so much I ache a little bit inside. Now, I have to hide them so that the 3 year old in the house can not locate. I will pull out my secret stash only when alone to view privately. Now if someone out there has the yellow and white with the gable roof Barbie Dream House from the late 70’s – that they’d like to give to me – my life will be complete. Well at least I would stop longing for the missing toys of my youth.
Here are some pics of the charms I now get to play with.
