Calling all Tweens: WIYS WRUD?

I am teaching a workshop once again this summer in the city of Glendale, AZ at the lovely fruit packing shed.

Sahuaro Ranch Park - Glendale AZ

The workshop is called: WIYS WAYD? (What is Your Story? What Are You Doing?)  It will take place from Monday June 28 through Thursday July 1. There are two sessions daily.  The morning session  is 9 a.m.- noon and then the workshop repeats from 1-4 p.m. So two options to join the fun! Ages 10-13 will get their creative juices flowing in this class. We kick it off with a brainstorming session on characters. Each participant will dream up a cast of characters, then decide what they look like, what they like to do and what adventure they will have in the story. Days two and three will be spent refining the story and illustrating the characters and the background on each page. During the final day, participants will put it all together into a bound book that they will share. Class takes place in the Main Room of the Fruit Packing Shed at Sahuaro Ranch, 9802 N. 59th Ave. The workshops, sponsored by the Glendale Library and Arts Department

To register online, go to www.glendaleaz.com/ParksandRecreation and click on “Classes and Programs.” There is a $20 non-refundable application fee per workshop and student. For more information, call 623-930-3557.

Baking Studio

Some of the fun I will get to have this summer will happen when my new Cricut Cake arrives in just a few short weeks. In preparation for all the baking fun I’ll be having,  I decided to transform part of my pantry into a baking studio. I figured it needed some organizational attention anyway so why not make it a fun project!

Along with all that cooking I plan on doing this summer I’ll need dessert so I’ll be baking cupcakes and such. Now I have a special place to get at it! To see details on this project visit Lovely Lula.

Cinco De Mayo Fun

So I went with the fam to the Cinco De Mayo Celebration out in Chandler, AZ. Mainly to see the Chihuahua dog run. We took some pics of  the dressed up Chihuahuas. People are very serious about their love for these little doggies. There was a photo studio set up outside to take photos of your “baby” beloved dog. Like I said – some seriousness going on here! The dog photo’s were $8 and people where lined up! I think the line was longer for that then for the tamale stand – what?!

True Cinco De Mayo style!

I also had to partake in the holiday spirit a bit by getting on the trampoline bungee thing! A crane system pulled you up to about two stories high and would release you to bounce down onto the trampoline located below you. The first pull up I have to admit my stomach dropped a bit but after that it was a really fun two minute ride. I tried with everything I had to do a flip while up in the air but the core muscles just aren’t there. Those damn teenagers who went before me made it look so easy.
