What I read / What I’ll read

September is here and that means getting back to it for us Arizonians who hibernate all Summer. I had a great Summer this year. I read a ton and thought I should make some recommendations of my favorites. A big thanks to my friend Cindy at Changing Hands book store.

Here are my recently read recommendations:

The Help by Kathryn Stockett, Evolution, Me and Other Freaks of Nature by Robin Brande, Party by Tom Levin,  The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer, The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell ,
Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson,  Waking Up in the Land of Glitter: A Crafty Chica Novel by Kathy Cano-Murillo, My Life in France by Julia Child and Mockingjay by Susan Collins.

What will I be reading this Fall? I am looking into the following:

The history of love, The Passage, “Unexpectedly, Milo,” by Matthew Dicks, How Did You Get This Number Sloane Crosley, Girl in Translation, Alone with you Marisa Silver, Like Under the Volcano, The Spot by David Means, Thief Maureen Gibbon, The Lonely Polygamist, The Long Song.

Stay tuned.

Creative Escape 2010 SWAPs

What a day. I just returned from Bazzill after a day filled with SWAP exchanges, gearing up for the big weekend long event starting Aug. 26. We had a good time today filling bags with goody exchanges. The quality of work was amazing and there were a couple of people who may have done all 20 or so SWAPs. Whoa! Wondering what a SWAP is? Well it works a little like this, you pick from a listed category such as handmade flower hair clip. You make three identical handmade flower hair clips, send them in and then they get exchanged for three different clips by three different people. It went like that all day long for cards, inchies, scrap pages, aprons, charms, key chains, fat quarters and even tiaras. The list goes on and on. All of the participants will receive their exchanged SWAPs at Creative Escape. See you there!

Verde Yum

This week I went to Verde in Downtown Phoenix with my gal pals and we enjoyed some fresh Mexican dishes. There was even an option for our vegan friend to spite what we had read on other sites online. We all left happy and we were super deluxe pleased with our limeade – yum! I had the Green Chili Pork and it was delicious. It was so large I had enough to take left overs home to the Tall One which makes for a happy man with a happy belly. Today Sat. 8/14 there is a Smunch event at Verde. Starting at 10:30 am Verde will open it’s doors for Smunchers. Head on over and enjoy. Verde is located at 825 North 1st Street, Phoenix AZ
