Black Friday – Local Style

Black Friday is not for everyone. Not everyone is cut out to  stand in line at 3am to get trampled for cheap electronics and discount towels. Not us! So this year we have complied a list of activities you may actually enjoy doing this Friday. Why not avoid the stress? Grab the kids or text your friends and try one of our Black Friday Alternatives.

Summer Ends Music Festival

I love a music festival and it’s even better when it’s in my town so I don’t have to travel. This past weekend was the Summer Ends Music Festival at Tempe Beach Park. Two of the days got rained out and had to be moved inside the Marquee Theatre so I only have a few photos but the music was great, the company was the best and the inspiration was plentiful. I spent much of the weekend so inspired by the music that I drew and drew and drew in my little travel notebook.

Music, Fashion and Art – Los Angeles Style

This past weekend I headed out to L.A. with friends. We started in Santa Ana (The OC!) to see an exhibition by Matt Moore called Cumulus at the Grand Central Art Center.

Matt was artist in residence and created a piece marking the L.A .Aqueduct’s 100th anniversary. He used decommissioned scavenging planks and films of clouds and growing fields which were projected on the planks perfecting using a system called Mad Mapper.  The piece was amazing. Head out to Santa Ana before January 2014 to see it.

On Saturday we went to the The folk fest on the Santa Monica Pier. Music, Beer from Sierra Nevada, Sun and Sand – that’s a yes! The show closed with Neko Case – a personal favorite!

On Sunday during the day we shopped Melrose Place in West Hollywood and A visit to the New BookMarc and Kate Spade Saturday were the highlights!
