Happy 4th of July! How’d you spend your day?

Today – Independence Day started off with a Red, White and Blue yummy breakfast for all.

Then post swimming at the pool we had Red, White and Blue icee pops! Kinda gross for the grown ups – not quite the memory I had thought but the short one was very happy!

Then we attempted to make Red, White and Blue popcorn ball treats! The short one was very happy about this. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a candy thermometer to properly measure the sugar mixture so our popcorn never quite rolled up into balls. The short one happily ate the soggy mess anyway. The tall one was confused and asked what the deal with the wet popcorn was. The short one said “Daddy you just don’t understand baking do you!” That’s right girl!!

Happy Mothers Day – vintage love

I got such a great gift this year for Mothers Day – it has literally caused me to loose sleep two nights in a row. It is a vintage, beautiful industrial typewriter. Vintage 1950s Royal Portable Manual Typewriter. As an object alone it is magnificent to look at but I plan on using it for journaling and art making in general. It is so pretty I had to pull a Raising Arizona Holly Hunter “I love it so much Hy” moment!! I feel like it was stolen from the set of Mad Men. I also feel like dancing a little “it’s mine all mine” jig! Ahhh . . . I just love it. I started to redo my office area because I was so inspired and wanted to rearrange everything to give my little Royal a focus.

My new nugget of happiness

Pared down desk area - laptop sits in front. Vintage tray holds my goods

Office supply cabinet re-organized and labeled. Oh joy!

Another look - ahhh . . . just take it in.

Cinco De Mayo Fun

So I went with the fam to the Cinco De Mayo Celebration out in Chandler, AZ. Mainly to see the Chihuahua dog run. We took some pics of  the dressed up Chihuahuas. People are very serious about their love for these little doggies. There was a photo studio set up outside to take photos of your “baby” beloved dog. Like I said – some seriousness going on here! The dog photo’s were $8 and people where lined up! I think the line was longer for that then for the tamale stand – what?!

This one belongs to my sister

True Cinco De Mayo style!

I also had to partake in the holiday spirit a bit by getting on the trampoline bungee thing! A crane system pulled you up to about two stories high and would release you to bounce down onto the trampoline located below you. The first pull up I have to admit my stomach dropped a bit but after that it was a really fun two minute ride. I tried with everything I had to do a flip while up in the air but the core muscles just aren’t there. Those damn teenagers who went before me made it look so easy.

Trying with all my might to do a flip
