What is that on your jacket?

It’s ink people! Demoing the YUDU and Your Story for Provo Craft the last couple of days has been super fun. While all the other peeps in the booth are wearing nice clean white bakers jackets –  mine is covered in red screen printing ink. What can I say I am trained as a painter and don’t generally concern myself with such things. After talking my throat raw (thanks for those who brought me water and cough drops!) I am reminded how great it would be to have screen printers in all of the schools just like the die cutters that are in every school. What great fundraiser opportunities! Another mission for me to focus on. Here are some booth shots from the last couple of days.

On a whim . . .

As mentioned in a previous post the in-laws were in from Chicago and one of the nights we cooked in they brought over a loaf of french bread. I noticed it was turning a bit stale by last night and I hated to waste it so I thought I would whip up a pan of baked french toast. I’ve seen this on brunch menus but have never made it. Seemed easy enough! I put the bread slices down in what is fast becoming my favorite pan. It is a Vintage FINEL Enamel Finland orange baking dish. I don’t really see these pans online much but they can be found in thrift stores. Anyway back to the french toast. I whisked together eggs, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla, poured that on top of the bread and then I threw on some slivered almond for visual flare. Finally, I stuck it in the refrigerator, covered over night. Woke up this am to my favorite show – CBS Sunday morning and popped the goods into the oven for 30 minutes. It was heavenly! Never shall old bread go to waste in my house again. MMMMMMMM . . . . .

4 carnivores and 1 non-beef eater

And everyone leaves happy . . . . .

While the in-laws were in town for New Years we ventured to the new 5 Guys burger stand in Tempe and everyone found something to be thankful for and to be annoyed by – perfect holiday experience! The 4 burger eaters were all happy and enjoyed their burgers although the tall one said he wanted to take the group to In and Out burger the next day for what he feels is truly the very best burger. He was vetoed though as a burger a week really is the limit. I am not a beef eater so I enjoyed the 5 Guys grilled cheese with sauteed mushrooms and onions – very tasty! We all enjoyed the fries although do four adults and one child really need a grocery bag filled with fries – the volume was a bit much. We all also enjoyed the “while you wait” peanuts offered in the “help yourself” cardboard bins. What we didn’t enjoy at all was the blasting, blaring, very load music. So loud we couldn’t actually talk to each other. Maybe their idea is to have you shut up and enjoy the food but the loudness was too much for anyone over 30.
