ASU Art Museum Store Holiday Sale!

41756d47-5b39-4d8f-af91-cacaa9e80921

The ASU Art Museum Store Holiday Sale starts Saturday, Nov. 29 at both locations.

For the first time ever, this year’s holiday sale is happening at two museum store locations! Get 20% off all regularly priced merchandise — and museum members receive an additional 10% off. Not a member? Become one today.
The ASU Art Museum Store features a number of unique handmade items by local artists, ASU alumni and faculty — as well as jewelry and other accessories, works from nationally and internationally known artists, imaginative stationary and unusual stocking stuffers.

The ASU Art Museum Store at the Brickyard carries a large selection of ceramics available for purchase from nationally recognized potters (including ASU ceramic faculty). We’re excited to introduce new ceramic works by artists including Sunshine Cobb, Andrew Gilliatt, Meredith Host, Tom Jaszczak, Tammy Marinuzzi and Luba Sharapan. Find earthenware bowls and mugs with a pop of color, wheel-thrown porcelain plates with colorful patterns, soda-fired vases and more.

When you shop at the museum stores, you’re supporting museum programs — and shopping local! According to Local First Arizona, of which the museum is a member, when shoppers choose to spend their money locally, 73 percent remains in the local economy, compared to just 43 percent from non-local stores.

Relax by the sea in the Oregon coastal town of Yachats for a workshop brought to you by Bloom. We will celebrate the everyday by designing and creating visual art journals. Make at MADE

The workshop at MADE was a fun one yesterday – thanks to all who came out to play. We made many, many V-day cards and love letters. We looked at poems, quotes and craft materials for our inspiration. There will be more opportunities in 2010 to pop in for a workshop at MADE. Hop over to their site and join the mailing list so that you are informed or subscribe to my list and I’ll let you know. Get inspired here though and get to making your own love notes! Here’s some pics from the day.

wonky style gift wrapping from scraps

No seriously, I am so into the holidays. I normally don’t even do the gift thing but this year I am magically finding perfect little giving opportunities for the people in my life. But the best part for me is the gift wrapping – that is where the fun is to be had. I have a ridiculous studio that is so fabulous and it is filled with things to pull from for any project. I am an organized, focused hoarder. I love, love, love the personal label maker –  so I know where everything is right now. Easy! Buy the bins, buy the label maker – make it your New Years Resolution. okay that is another post let us focus on the wrapping of the gifts. This was so much Fun – yes capital F! Flea Market Finds

Today was the parking lot flea market at the Trove in Scottsdale. The tall one was selling mid century furniture, I was there as support. Unfortunately it was a rare day of rain in Arizona. It was cool and felt lovely but was not such a good thing for wood. I did roam around and pick up a few bargin finds. The short one loved playing all day in the back of the pick-up who would have guessed that one? She is creative! And now for my finds:

If A Halloween Party . . .

Happy Halloween! I love Halloween. Dressing up, passing out candy and cute tricker treaters. Orange is my favorite color and I love all things pumpkin. I collected some images this past month of stuff I would use if I were throwing a Halloween Party. There will be no Halloween at the Lab5 casa this year. Sad, I know but this mama is just too busy to take it on. So instead I can think about it through pictures.  Hmmm there is a lot of alcohol – maybe I need a one person party to get some drink on. Here goes . . .

Pretty Patterned Papers

I have to post these  pretty patterned papers – I know there are a lot but I just can’t help myself. Some are from the convention in Glendale last week, some I found at Office Max, some at Michaels and some at Borders. I just can’t get enough. Several of these are from my favorite designers including Rusty Pickle, S.E.I, Basic Grey and Sassafras.  I am inspired to create! Now I just have to really carve out some time to get into the studio – soon, very soon! Enjoy looking.
